This course is the second term of the narrative improv curriculum. Through this curriculum, we’ll be building up your understanding of plot, character and relationships.
This course will focus on scene work and characters, and working them into your narratives.
Eligibility
To be eligible for this course, you need to have completed Narrative Term 1 or a similar course elsewhere. You can also join if you are already comfortable performing in a narrative long-form piece of at least 20 minutes.
You can skip this course if you’ve already completed the Level 3 Improv: Scene Work course of the old curriculum.
What you’ll be doing in this Course
We’ll look at the different methods for progressing a scene, like diving deeper into relationships and making use of your environment. We’ll also look at the different types of scenes and you can weave them into your narratives. Overall, we’ll be working towards telling great stories while retaining your sense of freedom and spontaneity.
Character Work
Scenes are very much made up by the characters that inhabit them; the character you play is the filter for the things you say and do on stage during scenes. So this course will devote some time to character work: improving authenticity, and exploring relationships.
No Showcase Performance
There will not be performance showcase at the end of this course.
